    Description

    VINTAGE POLISHED BRONZE CHOCK.  This fitting came off of a 1958, 36-foot wooden sloop that had been raced off of the southern California coast.  I believe the chock was made by Merriman Bros. Inc. out of Boston, only because most of the hardware salvaged off of the yacht was made by that company.  Its overall dimensions are 4 1/2 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide, and 1 11/16 inches high.  It is made of material that is 1/4 of an inch thick.  The line gap at the top is 7/8 of an inch wide, the interior width between the horns is 2 3/16 inches, and the interior height is 1 3/16 inches.  The two mounting holes are 1/4 inch in diameter and the entire chock weighs slightly under a pound.  There is minor pitting on the interior surfaces as can be expected, since this item is at least 63 years old (see photos).
